In 2020, The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida Recovered In Excess of $276 Million for Civil and Criminal Actions.
The Middle District of Florida is one of the most active Districts in the Country when it comes to qui tam (civil whistleblower actions). In 2020, the vast majority of the money collected came from civil enforcement cases, largely brought pursuant to the False Claims Act. A good working relationship between the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida and Relator’s counsel is critical in these matters. The Government’s resources are limited, so the public:private partnership, which the qui tam provisions allow, is vital. Please see the government’s press release, setting forth several of the cases which resulted in such high recovery for the government.
