Another Successful Outcome for The Law Offices of Audrey Hildes Schechter

by | Feb 7, 2025 | Firm News

The Law Offices of Audrey Hildes Schechter recently announced a significant False Claims Act settlement of $4.95 million in a Medicare fraud case against LiveCare Inc. Whistleblowers Alana Stuckmeyer and Anthony Vitello, represented by Schechter and Andrea Fischer, helped expose LiveCare’s fraudulent scheme involving the sale of glucose monitoring and diabetes-related equipment, as well as remote monitoring services, for Medicare patients who may not have had diabetes. This scheme included kickbacks and false Medicare claims, which resulted in substantial financial losses for the government.

The whistleblowers, who worked in LiveCare’s durable medical equipment division, filed a qui tam action in August 2022, alleging violations of Medicare rules. On January 16, 2025, the case was settled with the U.S. government intervening and LiveCare agreeing to pay $4.95 million, without admitting liability. The settlement addresses claims for unnecessary services and illegal kickbacks. Audrey Schechter praised the whistleblowers for their bravery and emphasized the importance of the False Claims Act in protecting taxpayer money. She also commended the work of Assistant U.S. Attorney Sean Keefe for his role in securing the settlement.
